Don’t get me wrong. This is an amazing hospital but the cultural and administrative barriers are very present. The staff nurses worked with administrators to try and phase out travelers making the experience more difficult toward the end of my contract. New manager; new director of this particular ICU unit who stayed in their offices unless to call you on your off days to ask if you had taken a 2 hour lunch when in fact you hadn’t gotten a lunch break that shift in addition multiple other shifts. All in all - go in - do your job & you’ll be fine.

Great Hospital- Culture Needs Improvement

Not my worst contract but definitely not my favorite. Culture was fine cause it was ran by travelers. I was there amidst Covid so the pay was good. House supervisors were ridiculous in micromanaging floor movement to the point one was chasing me down a hallway while I was tripled and had attempted to call report 2x at the beginning of my shift. Management was as always focused on the wrong things. Policies to match. Mostly NP night coverage- with few that actually had bedside critical care experience. And they had me precepting a new grad at one point which felt ridiculous.

Heaven help you if you go to the OR. The lack of professionalism and communication is abundant. You never have what you need. Trays never right. Core never stocked. Management walks right by you never says hello until they need you to stay late or take call. One time everyone in central sterile just decided to not come to work. No one had trays except for cardiac because they did their own. Systems need to be corrected there…starting with management.
