The Duke Oncology Nurse Coordinator is professional RN with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, a Nurse Coordinator provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.

The Oncology Nurse Coordinator is a key member of a multi-disciplinary patient care team, which includes providers, residents, fellows and other clinical support staff and provides clinical support to patients and caregivers, such as comprehensive assessment, general and focused education, and decision-making support. * Triage of patients (calling patients back for issues that don't need direct APP/MD response)

Qualifications:

* Education: BSN required

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level. CN Is areeligible for promotion to CN II by meeting criteria set forth by the DUHS Vizient Nurse Residency Program within 12 months of hire. Promotions can occur at 12 months of hire, but no later than 18 months of hire.
