The charge nurses are very good, but the nurse manager is out of touch. Most staff are good to work with. 

They are trying to replace the surgical Tech staff with in house trained nurses, and are very indifferent to the needs of the surgical Tech staff. 


This hospital has no instrument count policy for any case, including open belly, open chest, c-sections, etc. 

Many physicians (surgeons & anesthesia) ignore patient safety standards by regularly not wearing masks in the OR.  Even during setups for total joint revisions for infection, the orthopedic surgeon would spend 30 to 40 minutes in the OR with no mask on when it was open and sterile.

They ignore fire safety standards in most services (refusing to have water on backtables for scope cases, draping with chloraprep still wet, etc.) 

Upper management cuts pay for travelers between contracts. 

Call obligations are onerous for surgical techs and nurse scrubs, with frequent call-ins at all hours.

I cannot recommend, and would never receive healthcare there.

Mostly reasonable co-workers, inept upper mgmt., caustic call policies, and they fail completely at national safe practice standards
