2 nurses recommend working here
The unit setup and the workload are so convenient. However, there is one staff in our team who is so lazy and has a toxic behavior which making our work heavier. She will comment and correct you, has an extremely high ego. But she doesn’t have a work ethics which makes her sound hypocrite.
Extremely busy almost all of the time but staff are usually supportive and team oriented. Cost of living is higher, but there are short term furnished rentals available. Most hospital staff are contracted from the Philippines, which is awesome, but can make communication difficult with majority of staff using English as a second language.

Med surg floor has decent ratios, usually 3-5 patients. This is a CAH so super sick patients are sent out. They have RT, two are great and one is super lazy and will leave things over due hoping you’ll do them. They have phlebotomy which is great. Huge lack of experienced nurses, most are new grads or graduated within the last 2 years, Charge is free most often but is also a new grad so your IV skills and critical thinking needs to be on point. The DON is not well liked among staff, but I never saw her in my time there. Any issues have to be reported to the charge and she will call the physician for you, you cannot call them yourself. The charge also does rounds on you patients instead of you doing it. Manager of med Surg was a scrub tech and not an RN. Charges also tend to give their friends lighter assignments and give travelers the heavier patients. Once they decide if they like you they will give you better patients. They have LPNs too and they can’t do admissions so even if you don’t get the admit you will have to do a lot of it anyways. ER techs will drop patients off without telling you on occasion. ER nurses were mostly nice if you had questions about the patients they sent, and did their best to call with report if they had time. Scheduler is very forgetful so you have to stay on top of your requests. It wasn’t a terrible place to work, I would consider going back because I learned who to avoid and who is good to work with.
