To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.

The position is a Charge Nurse located at Central Prison Healthcare Complex in Raleigh, which houses approximately 1318 close custody male offenders).   

The position provides professional nursing care/treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols in a supervisory capacity.  Employees in this role are responsible for managing and supervising daily nursing care on an assigned shift or assigned area, or in a preceptor role, coordinating all licensed and non-licensed staff.  Duties will include but are not limited to:

* Conducting needs assessments. 


* Developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans. 


* Providing patient care and education to offenders in a state correctional facility.  


* The position requires sick call assessments, medication administration, phlebotomy sticks, transcribing MD/PA orders, patient education, thorough medical documentation, monitoring/treatment of communicable diseases, and responding to emergencies.

They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
