CHI Franciscan Rehabilitation Hospital

CHI was my first assignment as a rehab nurse. Therefore, there was a level of adjustment I was not used to, but I managed to adapt quickly. For example, sending labs, orders, and the overall pace of a rehab is very different from the acute care hospital setting I'm used to. With that being said, it was a good first experience. The culture was good. The usual conversations about "underpaid, understaffed" would come up, but people worked well together. Management puts a lot of pressure on the charge nurse that transfers over to scattered assignments or unbalanced acuity. The facility itself is nice but lacks some basic supplies that should be readily available. The charting system is horrible. It leaves room for mistakes due to it being 2 separate systems. Not a bad place to work if you're into the acute rehab setting.
