Job Title: Registered Dietitian FLSA Status: Non-Exempt About us Physicians East, P.A.is a team of skilled healthcare professionals united to meet the challenge of delivering quality, cost-efficient, comprehensive healthcare to the people of Eastern North Carolina. Location & commitments Full Time role based at our Greenville (other) location, Monday-Friday, 7:30a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary. Supervision Received: Reports to area manager(s) and Chief Operating Officer. Supervision Exercised: None. Typical Physical Demands: (Example) Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment. Typical Working Conditions: Normal office environment About the role Provides professional medical care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. Frequent exposure to conditions common to a clinic/hospital environment. Responsibilities * Provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the patient's medical goals. * Evaluate, interpret, monitor, and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of patients using established standards of care and practice guidelines. * Identify and provide age-specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of the patients and their families. * Develop, review, update and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients and professionals. * Function as an integral member of the clinical interdisciplinary team. * Maintain registered dietitian (RD) status including continuing professional education. * Precept dietetic interns and provide on the job training for newly hired clinical staff. * Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. * Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. * Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. * Utilizes practice guidelines and standardized procedures in collaboration with the treating physician(s) in providing care to patients. Candidate requirements * Degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or comparable major. * Successful completion of coordinated program or dietetic internship or not less than 900 hours under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian. * Licensed dietitian/nutritionist (LDN) by the NC Board of Dietetics and Nutrition or equivalent. * Must be able to work independently (under indirect supervision). * Have at least one year of post-graduate experience in field. * Must have experience and knowledge of an EMR system, voice dictation (Dragon) and strong documentation skills. * Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. * Can use strong clinical judgment to determine when a supervising physician should be consulted. * Flexible and adaptable with a focus on not turning any patient away before exhausting all reasonable options. * Value working in a team-oriented, patient-centric culture. The ideal candidate will also: * Be confident in clinical decision-making and autonomous in providing care to patients in a fast-paced clinical practice setting. * Demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be proactive in discussing case management. * Possess excellent time management and have ability to work well with patients and their families, collaborating/supervising physicians, facility staff and leadership. * Display a professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families, maintaining strict confidentiality in all times. * Demonstrate a strong sense of team commitment, which includes meeting deadlines, punctuality and excellent follow-through and feedback.
