Quality Nurse Coordinator

This position will cover UPMC's Regional Health Service practices in UPMC's Northwest Hospital area. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work from home 1-2 days and will spend 2-3 days at our practice locations in Clarion, Franklin, Shippenville or Venango. Responsibilities: * Reviews and extracts patient information from the medical record * Demonstrates innovation and leads change through process flow/analysis * Demonstrates expertise in PI/CQI and with methods such as lean, Toyota and or six sigma * Interprets and analyzes data and identifies areas for improvement Leads core measure and other processes teams Uses measurement and analytics skills to identify areas for improvement * Exhibits knowledge of the fiscal implications of quality outcomes Improves processes * Utilizes appropriate computer systems to obtain data, enter and develop reporting tools * Demonstrates interest in the development of others and positively impacts the lives of patients/families, peers, and members of the healthcare team through mentoring, education, and knowledge sharing. * Mentors and role models quest for continuous learning through formal education and the development of others. * Seeks opportunities to share expertise with other members of the healthcare team * Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to identify opportunities for success with regulatory requirements * Partners with hospital leaders to implement change * Demonstrates project management skills * Serves as a leader in clinical nursing practice, identifying patient and staff focused opportunities for improvement and leading the change process. * Identifies, educates and supports the psychological and learning needs of staff during change and transition. * Practices participatory leadership and is an active member of shared leadership at the unit, facility or system level. * Participates with the peer review process. * Interacts with variety of staff * Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling uplifting and positive communication. * Coaches colleagues on cultural diversity and addresses workplace horizontal violence and impairment. * Demonstrates accountability to self and others for safe work hours, time management and healthy lifestyles. * Applies best practice knowledge to improvement efforts * Practices solid verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates critical thinking in the analysis of clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues for the patient care. * Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system's goals to improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction of the patient experience in work. * Disseminates new knowledge and innovations through presentations, posters, and publications. Qualifications: * BS/BSN degree required at time of hire/transfer, Master's degree preferred. * Minimum 5 years of nursing experience required * Must be able to demonstrate skills to understand and interpret data * Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families. * Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment. * Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care. * Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others. * Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: * UPMC approved national certification preferred. * Registered Nurse (RN) * Act 33 with renewal * Act 34 with renewal * Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal * Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
