Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center in Northwest Portland is known for its specialty programs and clinical excellence. Legacy Good Samaritan features nationally renowned doctors in cancer care, kidney transplantations, neurology, ophthalmology, weight-loss surgery, robotic surgery, rehabilitation and more, plus Oregon's only 24-hour urgent care that's located alongside an emergency room, with access to emergency care if needed. Responsibilities The Surgical Technologist participates as part of the surgical team in assisting nursing staff in support services necessary for safe and efficient care of patients within the various areas of surgical services. This individual assist at the surgical field passing instruments and supplies to other members of the surgical team. Participates in acquiring, preparing and equipping the surgical suites. Assists in non-surgical patient intervention under the direct supervision of a physician or RN. May serve as a Core Technician, with responsibility for maintaining sterile technique and providing supplies and instruments as requested. Qualifications Experience: 1 year Surgical Technologist experience preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or completion of a military training program for surgical technologists. As of January 1, 2017, in lieu of the formal Surgical Technologist training program requirement, may substitute professional experience if candidate has worked 2 out of last 3 years as Surgical Technologist. Skills: Basic level patient care skills per requirements of the position. Basic medical terminology. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions. Ability to understand and apply principles of sterile technique and surgical procedures within the scope of the position Able to work in a fast paced environment and prioritize multiple assignments. For new hires after July 1, 2016 not meeting the previous experience provision noted in the Education section: Current certification as Surgical Technologist or certification as Surgical Technologist within 12 months of graduation from Surg Tech program. State of Washington: Registered Surgical Technologist (RST) with State of WA required. Pay Range USD $33.26 - USD $47.56 /Hr.
