Nurse Educator-Walter B. Jones Center

The Nurse Educator is responsible for overseeing the overall educational needs of Walter B. Jones Center's Nursing Staff which includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Technicians. This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. Job responsibilities include the following: * Educating and training of Nursing Services staff. * Accesses, plans and develops educational content aimed at training and re-education of nursing services staff. * Serves as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instructor and will conduct training during New Employee Orientation. * Maintains training and certification records for all nursing staff. * Serves as supervisor for Health Care Technician Leads * Serves as a member of Operations Team and Environment of Care and Safety Committee. Position will work primarily Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Schedule requires flexibility to accommodate training/education for 2nd shift employees as requested by the Chief Nursing Officer About the Walter B. Jones Center: The Walter B. Jones Center operates two adult inpatient treatment programs on site in Greenville, NC: (1) Woodside Treatment Center and (2) Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital. The primary purpose and mission of the Walter B. Jones Center is "To provide inpatient treatment, psychiatric stabilization and medical detoxification for individuals with mental health, substance use and other co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses for ongoing community based treatment and recovery". The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and SAMHSA/CSAT. Two specialty programs are offered to all 100 NC Counties: (1) Inpatient Opioid Treatment for adults and (2) Inpatient Perinatal Services for women in their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters with substance use disorders. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following: * Proven basic knowledge of nursing principles and techniques for medical, surgical and mental health practices. * Demonstrated working knowledge of principles and practices of state and federal law standards, certifying and accrediting bodies, guidelines, and regulations applicable to areas of assignment. * Demonstrated working knowledge of adult learning principles and teaching techniques. * Demonstrated working knowledge in effectively teaching nursing staff and other employees as appropriate through orientation and on-the-job training. * Proven proficient to engage in public speaking. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one (1) years of experience in the area of specialization. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities. Manager's Preference: Two years' experience as a Nurse Educator, behavior modification/psychiatric or substance abuse population.
