OBGYN Nurse Practioner


Summary Provides advanced nursing care and physician support care to adolescent and adult female patients from puberty through pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause in a clinic setting. Works within established protocols and multidisciplinary plans of care, and clinical specific standards under the direction of an OB/GYN physician. In addition, the practitioner is part of a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team and is expected to be familiar with the philosophy, goals and objectives of PCMH. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides safe, effective, and comprehensive primary health and well-women care in an antepartum care setting within established guidelines of care, under the direction of the physician. Works under the direction of the OB/GYN Lead Physician and consults physician for collaborative management of more serious findings in the obstetric patient. Responsible for patient triage. Manages normal, uncomplicated antepartum and postpartum patients. Performs comprehensive initial and ongoing assessment upon each patient encounter, providing safe, effective and comprehensive health care. Must meet productivity standards for seeing adequate number of patients. Must code visits correctly for payment to clinic. Assists in the development of policy as relates to the care of the client in the clinic setting. Ability to communicate and interpret age specific responses and treatments. Participates in CPI program. Maintains compliance, is knowledgeable, and utilizes the guidelines of all state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to the position including, but not limited to; Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), Scope of Practice, Accreditation Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Bureau of Primary Health Care/ Health Resources and Services Administration (BPHC/HRSA), National Committee for Quality Assurance/Patient Centered Medical Home (NCQA-PCMH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA), Joint Commission on Accreditation of healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and other HRSA related regulatory functions and/or agencies that Family Circle of Care participates in. Performs duties as required or assigned for specific operational purposes for which they are qualified to perform. Patient Centered Responsibilities Ability to involve family in decision making on plan of care when appropriate. Ability to assess, interpret and provide age specific care. Reviews history, physical, laboratory and psychosocial findings to determine current risk status at each patient visit. Documents pertinent subjective and objective findings of health condition and formulates management plan and communicates plan to patient. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no administrative or operational supervisory responsibilities. Will aid in direction of clinical support staff when needed as directed or delegated by Lead Physician or Clinic Site Manager. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Master's degree or equivalent in nursing required; prefer at least one year experience as an RN in Acute or Ambulatory Health Care Setting. Equipment Working knowledge of clinical equipment i.e. scales, thermometers, dynamap, nebulizers, glucose meters, pressure monitors, basic bedside ultrasound imaging and any other point of care testing equipment. Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software; Microsoft Word Processing software; Internet Explorer Internet software and Electronic Medical Record experience. EPIC experience preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must have current RN license for Texas, and current WHNP license/certification in Texas; Current BCLS Healthcare Card, and prescribing authority/DEA licensure in good standing. Responsible for all renewals and required CEU's for licensure and certifications.
