Nurse Manager - PreOP Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Nurse Manager - PreOp Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) The ideal candidate will have a BSN, five years of nursing experience to include one year of Supervisory/Charge Nurse experience in PACU, Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Critical Care environment. MSN and/or Specialty Certification is preferred. Shift: Mid-Shift, should be flexible to include rotating weekend coverage and on-call as needed. Transformational Leadership The Nurse Manager supports the unit's vision and collaborates with the Associate Director and Clinical Nurse Leader. * Monitors and implements budget plans for efficient patient care. * Prepares unit staffing to balance skill mix and patient needs. * Manages daily staffing and assignments for quality care. * Fosters staff autonomy and supports change initiatives. * Encourages engagement and communicates the necessity of change. Structural Empowerment In partnership with leadership, the Nurse Manager empowers staff to address challenges and achieve unit goals. * Oversees human resource functions such as recruitment, retention, evaluation, and productivity. * Coaches top talent and supports staff development. * Uses Just Culture principles to manage performance and accountability. * Guides staff in achieving outcomes aligned with organizational goals. Exemplary Professional Practice The Nurse Manager advances nursing roles across the institution and promotes evidence-based practices. * Ensures clinical care follows nursing standards and research. * Promotes outcome-focused, quality patient care. * Fosters collaboration with leaders, departments, and families. New Knowledge, Innovation, and Improvement The Nurse Manager contributes to the unit through new knowledge, innovation, and evidence-based improvements. * Integrates new research and standards into care practices. * Embraces technology and innovative patient care methods. * Supports quality improvement and safety initiatives, aligning with institutional goals for safe, effective, patient-centered care. Empirical Outcomes The Nurse Manager, in collaboration with leadership, uses data to drive improvements and guide unit performance. * Leads unit performance improvements based on outcome data. * Monitors trends and develops action plans for sustained results. * Mentors staff in performance improvement projects and best practices. Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Preferred: Master's of Science in Nursing Experience Required: Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Preferred: One year of professional nursing experience in cancer care. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Licensure/Certification Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area. Certification in CPAN, Oncology, specialty practice area, or Administration.
