Job Description ECU Health About ECU Health Medical Center ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. Position Summary * Assesses patients * Develops a plan of care * Implements patient care * Evaluates and revises patient care * Participates in quality improvement (QI) activities * Participates in education of self and others * Provides leadership * Demonstrates support of research Responsibilities * Collects and documents data about patients commonly seen on the unit through the following methods: * Makes appropriate referrals and utilizes appropriate resources to assess patients with conditions, that are new, unfamiliar or not commonly seen on the unit. May serve as a resource to other staff. * Interprets overt and covert assessment data to determine when patient is currently at physiological or psychological risk. Identifies subtle symptoms that may impact safety or achievement of goals. * Identifies patient/significant other(s) learning needs. * Identifies patient barriers for learning and provides needed resources. Assesses patient readiness to learn and readiness for behavior modifications and initiates interventions as appropriate. * Documents and communicates complex patient care issues. Minimum Requirements * Associate Degree in Nursing is required- or higher. * Valid Registered Nurse licensure is required. * American Heart Association ACLS and BLS Certification is required. * 4 - 5 years related work experience is required. Other Information Shift: Days. 24 hours per week. Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
