Medical Technologist-Portland, OR- onsite This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced CLIA and CAP certified laboratory for a leading global provider of outsourced services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Our Medical Technologists ensure the Molecular Laboratory is meeting the highest quality standards. Perform general technical assignments, sample extraction, and testing for the Molecular Laboratory in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality standards. Duties of the Medical Technologist include: * Performing quality sample nucleic acid extractions using manual, automated, and semi-automated methods per standard operating procedures and in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices. * Performing high complexity molecular testing, including but not limited to RT-qPCR, qPCR, Sanger Sequencing, and ddPCR methods, per standard operating procedures and in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice. * Analyzing clinical testing data, validating test results through correlation with test parameters, and results reporting per study guidelines. * Performing critical quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data. * Verifying and ensuring specimen integrity and continuity throughout all testing steps. * Clinical sample storage in accordance with current written procedures and on on-the-job training practices. * Ensuring reagents are prepared, stored, and used in a manner suitable to the task performed, and maintaining proper documentation as to ensure quality records. * Completing all paperwork and maintaining quality records in accordance with Good Documentation Practices. * Adhering to all written internal and external quality control procedures. * Training newer laboratory technologists in the use of proper techniques and procedures related to Good Laboratory Practices. * Working independently and as a member of a dynamic, cohesive team. * Experience and competency with Word and Excel applications. * Maintaining a "Own It" mentality by recognizing and acknowledging mistakes with an emphasis on immediately bringing any suspected issue to laboratory management's attention. * Responding to queries regarding quality issues and participating in root cause analysis investigations as directed by the laboratory management team. * Assisting with the evaluation and validation of new testing methods, as requested. * Participating in, and maintaining, Continuous Education requirements. * Recognizing the importance of clinical specimens and maintaining a strong commitment to quality while working with efficiency. * Conducting all other tasks relevant to the general running of the molecular laboratory, as assigned. What you need: * BSc or BA: Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences or MLS. * 2+ years of full-time laboratory experience, preferably in a clinical setting. * 2+ years manual nucleic acid extraction and pipetting experience. * At least one year of experience executing molecular tests. * Experience working with a Laboratory Information System. * Experience working with clinical specimens.
