Southern Dental Alliance is looking for a Dental Hygienist to join our team Southern Dental Alliance is a dental support organization affiliated with 40 practices in the Southeast The lead doctors of each practice pursue aggressive growth and offer invaluable mentoring and support The practices operate under eleven main practice identities At Southern Dental Alliance we want to be a community that people want to join We are looking for long term relationships with our teams our patients and our communities Purpose and summary of role We are in search of a pediatric dental sedation recovery nurse Pediatric exposure preferred but not mandatory PACU and recovery room experience welcomed Preferred to be PALS and ACLS certified Will work closely alongside a board certified Anesthesiologist to complete outpatient dental procedures Nurses role will be to assist the anesthesiologist with pre op of the patients drawing up medications helping set up the room and assist the Anesthesiologist with monitors and IV placement as needed They will be utilized to recover the patients after the dental sedation procedure until discharge This will include helping explain the post op instructions to the parents before discharge Anesthesiologist able to teach on the job Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job Duties responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice Minimum Eligibility Requirements 3 years nursing experience preferably in a pediatric care facilityBachelors Degree in Nursing requiredValid nursing licenseAdvanced knowledge of EMRsWillingness to work a flexible schedule and to fill in when neededExcellent bedside manner and communication skillsAbility to explain treatments and conditions to children of all agesWorking knowledge of health care laws and regulationsPreferred Education and Experience Industry experience in DentistryDental NursingAdditional Eligibility Requirements Current CPR certificationEmployee may be required to submit to an annual Tuberculosis TB and Rubella screening Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Assist with pre and post op anesthesia IV Sedation cases for pediatric dental patientsPatient monitoring and recoveryRemove IV from patientsDiscuss pre & post op with parentsUpdating parents as needed during proceduresAssist anesthesiologist as needed during routine andor emergent patient situationsFill out recovery room record andor another pre & post op paperworkAbility to lift andor help transition patients from procedure room to recovery roomRequired Competencies Organization Has effective organizational skills and is detailed orientedMedical expertise Ability to demonstrate medicaloral health knowledge comprehensive and aptitude concerning health service deliveryCompassion Understand patient needs and circumstances and can effectively demonstrate concern for others well beingEffective communication Can establish an interpersonal dialogue with others through listening and verbal communicationEthical practice Ability to practice ethically and professionally in the decision making process and execution of those decisionsQuality care Can deliver high quality nursing care to patientsWork Environment This job operates in a medicalclinical environment This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job The employee frequently is required to talk and hear; stand for long periods of time; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms The employee must frequently lift andor move objects up to 25 pounds While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to blood and blood borne pathogens andor physical risks which will require OSHA training Position Type and Expectations of Work Hours This is a part time position Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 30 40 hours a week Travel Some travel to various practices may be required
