The school nurse at 2950 Broadway is responsible to verify reporting ang programs are within compliance with TEA or other agencies. EDUCATION License Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Registered Nurse (R.N.) with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Currently licensed as a LVN and/or R.N. in the State of Texas EXPERIENCE Minimum experience requirement - 12 months. NOTE: RYSS follows the Texas Board of Nursing recommendation that a newly licensed nurse not practice in an independent setting for a period of 12-18 months post-licensure QUALIFICATIONS The ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, both internally and externally. The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, drive and/or be mobile. Valid Texas driver's license with applicable insurance coverage. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Participates in the formulation of campus health program goals and objectives. Goals will be for all RYSS locations. 2. Provides direct health care, emergency first aid and care, and related health services according to RYSS policies and procedures. 3. Provides preventive health care by: providing appraisals, screening programs, referral and follow-up; recognizing, reporting, and using control measures on communicable diseases; and monitoring and providing follow-up on immunization needs. 4. Provides families with information on health and medical resources and assists families to access medical care. 5. Conducts health counseling, makes home visits, and follows through on health problems as needed. 6. Conducts specific health instruction for students, parents, and staff and serves as a resource to staff regarding health instruction. 7. Leads weekly zoom meetings with all locations to ensure every location is maintaining safe practices. 8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
