SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This is a responsible professional nursing supervisor position involved in the planning, organization, supervision, and provision of nursing care at a state residential facility serving persons with developmental disabilities. Oversees the development and implementation of the appropriate sections of the medical/nursing care plan that is (1) based on holistic nursing assessments, (2) developed in concert with the interdisciplinary team, (3) designed to assure optimum health and the highest possible level of independent functioning for each person. Interviews and hires applicants upon the approval of the Executive Nursing Director in accordance with Human Resources' procedures. Ongoing communication with staff regarding progress, and changes in operating procedures, including holding formal staff meetings at least monthly. Provides on-call support during evenings and weekends, on a rotation with other nursing supervisors. In addition to troubleshooting, consulting with staff as needed, on-call responsibilities include reporting to Tacachale on all shifts if necessary to complete direct nursing duties, such as medication passes. Participates in budgetary process by monitoring use of resources, staff and supplies. Performs supervisory Human Resouces duties, including People First management, drafting SMART Objectives, setting expectations and performing all talent management functions. Completes performance evaluations within deadlines and supervises completion of all required documents/processes, such as HR referrals, termination, five-year background checks and health screening. Provides incident reporting and management of workplace incidents, accidents or injuries as they occur. Response to the incidents include documentation, treatment, referrals, and follow-up of the incidents to provide accurate analysis, reporting and tracking of all organizational incidents involving the residents. This will identify and correct potential future re-occurrence. Regularly attend in-service training and participate in continuing education programs to maintain and improve professional and supervisory skills. Provides oversight and supervision of Agency contract nurses in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. Provides supervision of nursing staff throughout the center, on an as-needed basis. Ensures that nursing practice is in compliance with state and federal licensure requirements, assisting with development and implementation of operating procedures pertaining to nursing practice. POSITION REQUIREMENTS * A valid Florida Driver's License. * If hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver's license must be obtained within 30 days. * Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle. * Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency. * Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency. * Must maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Direct Care In-Service. * Must complete annual health screening. * Must maintain current Registered Nurse license. * Must maintain current CPR Healthcare Provider Certification. * Must be able to lift up to 40lbs with or without accommodations. This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per APD OP 2-0035. This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: * nursing principles, practices, and techniques * human anatomy and physiology Skilled in: * the use of emergency equipment within scope of training.
