Maternal Mortality Review Nurse Abstractor

About the Division of Public Health: The NC Division of Public Health (DPH) works to promote and contribute to the highest possible level of health for the people of North Carolina - Everywhere, Everyday, Everybody. Summary: The Nurse Consultant will coordinate medical record reviews to gather medical and social determinants of health information from death certificates, prenatal and hospitalization records, autopsy and/or behavioral health records for the purposes of determining factors that may have contributed to the maternal death, up to 365 after the birth. This position will support the work of the Maternal Mortality Review Committee (MMRC). To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Any information listed under the text resume section or on an attachment will not be considered for qualifying credit. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following: * Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in obstetrical care during the antepartum, intrapartum or postpartum periods. * Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR). * Verbal and written communication and documentation skills * Critical reasoning and care assessment skills. * Active NC Nursing license. Management Preferences: * Inpatient and outpatient experience. Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and one year of experience in the area of specialization.
