Public Health Nurse - Tuberculosis (TB)


Position Information Are you a motivated Registered Nurse looking to make a positive impact within your community? New Hanover County is seeking a Licensed Registered Nurseto join the Community Health team at the Health and Human Services department. The RN will provide public health skilled nursing procedures which include interviewing patients and responding to questions for TB Suspects and Cases, delivering, dispensing, administering appropriate medications and vaccines; performing screening tests; counseling clients on test results and public health issues; interacting with the family and resources involved with the patient's care; and documenting and maintaining patient records in ELR. The RN will also assume a disaster shelter role and function as part of the Community Health Team within the TB Program, providing relief and back-up for the community team and community nursing clinics as needed. Additionally, the RN will perform community nursing outreach and education activities for at -risk populations, and other duties as assigned. Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations. Salary Information: Thehiring rangefor this position is$59,168 - $79,877.Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work. Trainee Opportunities: Applicants who possess the required education and an active RN License with eligibility to practice in NC, but lack the required nursing experience may be considered, and if hired, will be paid at least the minimum trainee rate of$56,351and will remain at a trainee rate until the minimum experience qualifications are met. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: * Valid RN license with eligibility to practice in NC * Bachelor's Degree in Nursing that includes a public health rotation * or Associate's Degree in Nursing which includes a public health nursing rotation * or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing * One (1) year of professional nursing experience What will make your application stand out: * Prior experience working in a department of public health * Experience working in TB or communicable diseases Licenses/Certifications Required Licenses/Certifications: * Valid NC Driver's License * CPR Certification * AED Certification * First Aid Certification Other Information Applicant Information: This position is a continuous posting and open until filled, however, priority consideration will be given to applications received by Monday, October21, 2024.
