Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director, Patient Services. Responsible for overseeing the operation of the patient food service functions of the Department of Food and Nutrition. Ensures compliance with the rules and regulations of the Medical Board, TJC and State and local regulatory agencies. Ensures that patients receive optimal nutritional care in accordance with the most current information in the field of nutrition. Maintains and supervises patient food delivery to maximize patient satisfaction with Food and Nutrition Services Job Responsibilities: * Oversees all aspects of Patient Services Operations, holding leaders accountable to achieve departmental and organizational goals. * Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health. Achieves a world class level of food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests * Ensures a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and culture of excellence. * Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and oversight in meeting accordance with departmental budgets for labor and supplies. Establishes appropriate staffing patters to assure quality car and service while meeting budget targets. Provides, maintains and updates up to date systems for tracking revenues and tracks costing meals served, employee time and attendance. Budget to expenditure variances are tracked in a timely fashion and reviews budget variances with related management. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Ensures that all employees under supervision meet mandatory and continuing education requirements. * Ensures that Departmental Manuals are up to date and compliant. Ensures that Nutrition Care Manual is current and compliant with JCAHO, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Board, and Nutrition standards of the Medical Center. Ensures that Policy and Procedure Manual is current and reflective of current operations, Codes and Medical Center Policies. Updates manuals to assure accuracy and compliance. Ensures that F&N complies with all aspects of hospital safety and emergency preparedness policies. * Oversees the function of Food Service specific computer systems within the Food Service Department. Recommends and oversees Food Service computer systems and their smooth functioning. Coordinates the functioning of the patient services area of the department with all other areas. Provides training on systems for management and staff. Handles patient related food problems. Always practices the highest level of professionalism in dealing with others. Participates in hospital committees as assigned. * Oversees Human Resource functions within these areas. Responsible for recommending and carrying out such employee matters as promotions and disciplinary actions. Interfaces with Human Resources and Union. Ensures timely training, health assessments and evaluations for employees who are direct reports. * Maintains audit functions within patient food service. Regularly seeks opportunities for continuing education. Interacts with Finance and Internal Audit as needed. Collaborates with the clinical staff in the selection, development and adoption of educational materials. Ensures that all audits for temperature, food handling, tray distribution, infection control and food safety are maintained. Oversees the nutritional adequacy of menus. * Monitors all aspects of the meal service tray delivery within the Food Service Department. Ensures that all staff in areas of responsibility are appropriately trained and oriented. Provides meetings and ongoing educational forums for nutrition staff to ensure that nutrition practice is consistent with the most current information in the field. Provides ongoing education for non-clinical staff to for their continued development and to ensure adherence to departmental standards. Ensures that job descriptions and staffing plans are updated as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree 5 or more years management experience in healthcare food service. National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for ServSafe Protection Certification (obtained within 6 months of hire) Preferred Qualifications: Registered Dietitian (RD) Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $195,179.92 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
