Certified Nurse Extender (2023-2024)

Job Description Nurse Extender - Classified Job Qualification Continuing or Temporary: Temporary Level of Benefits: Full Number of Months: 10 Salary Schedule: Grade 64 Nurse Extender will be directed and supervised by the Registered School Nurse. Minimum Degree Level: Associate's Degree or N.C Nurse Aide License Minimum Experience/Requirements: Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria: 1. Hold at least an Associate's Degree 2. Have 48-semester hours of transferable college coursework, 3. Have 96-contact hours of college coursework plus passing scores on the WorkKeys test 4. Have a NC Nurse Aide License Duties to include: * In collaboration with RN School Nurse, monitor students identified with COVID-19 symptoms that have been placed in isolation by the RN School Nurse following COVID-19 social distancing guidelines and utilizing appropriate PPE. * In collaboration with RN School Nurse, Implement school level COVID-19 Screening Testing Program, including management of consents, randomizing of testing, and follow-up after testing is completed. Assist with Vendor at the school site. * Implement school level procedure for symptom positive students and staff. * Collaborate with RN School Nurse in assuring local health department notification for positive cases in school and contact tracing. * Support RN School Nurse efforts in vaccine administration opportunities (flu, required vaccines, etc.) for assigned school. * Support the RN School Nurse efforts in completing health screenings (dental and vision) * Support the RN School Nurse in other duties as needed as allowed by the NC BON rules related to delegation * Support the Principal in other duties as needed.
