We encourage people of all lived experiences to apply. Position Summary This is an exciting opportunity to join University Health Services (UHS) in our busy, team-oriented Acute Care Clinic. The Acute Care Clinic is designed to deliver excellent, effective, and efficient healthcare to undergraduate and graduate students at UO who are ill or injured. The clinic is staffed by medical providers, nurses, and medical assistants working together with a goal to get students back to their academics and activities safely and efficiently. This position will serve to coordinate the RN work within Acute Care, which includes 1) a phone and drop-in triage, 2) nursing support for patients scheduled with medical providers in acute care, and 3) an RN acute care clinic to care for straight forward illnesses and injuries. This position will be providing direct clinical care in all areas as well as serving an administrative role, including developing processes and policies, providing nursing education, and supporting quality assurance/improvement activities. The position does not have any supervisory responsibilities; the position is designed to oversee processes and systems, not people. This position reports to the Medical Director. The Acute Care Clinic functions within the broader Medical Services team, which also includes Primary Care, Sports Medicine, Psychiatry, and Specialty Care. UHS also has Counseling, Physical Therapy, Dental, Pharmacy, and Diagnostic Services teams. Consequently, there is a high level of support and collegiality for the staff in the Acute Care Clinic. This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employees must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements. Minimum Requirements * Possession of a valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse License at the time of appointment, or ability to obtain by the agreed upon start date of employment Professional Competencies * Commitment to delivering excellent, effective, efficient, equitable, and evidence-based medical care at all times * Effective communication skills * Excellent organizational and time-management skills * Ability to move between independent work and collaborative work throughout any given day; ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively * Ability to maintain a flexible and even-keeled approach to change * Proficiency working in an electronic health record (EHR) and other health IT platforms * Commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and equitable environment Preferred Qualifications * Five years' experience as a registered nurse * Three years' recent experience as a clinical nurse within an outpatient care setting * Experience working in a college health care setting * Experience as lead or resource nurse with an emphasis on managing or coordinating some aspect of nursing care (e.g. vaccination services, triage services, RN clinical care, occupational medicine services, etc) * Experience working with standing orders and clinical care protocols to independently manage patients * Experience with continuity care case management * Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Certification, or ability to obtain by the agreed upon state of employment FLSA Exempt: No All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
