POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the Director of Health Services in providing a level of care that ensures the safety and well-being of all residents; provide direct resident care activities to include assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of nursing care. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provide resident care as assigned. Respond to resident calls and provide appropriate nursing interventions. Dispense medications per physicians' orders. Ensure narcotic counts are accurate at beginning and end of shift (where applicable). Receive and give end of shift report. Provide report to nurse's aides/caregivers on respective shift. Supervise and assign work for nurse's aides/caregivers. May assist with finding replacement for call-ins if applicable Follow documentation policy. Account for all assigned equipment at end of shift, i.e. cell phones, pagers, walkies etc. Call health care providers to facilitate medication orders, supplies, transportation, etc. 12. Schedule staff, and secure replacement for absences. Complete 24-hour census report (where applicable). Order medications and process new health care provider's orders. Call resident's emergency contact person as necessary. Order trays and facilitate care for residents who are temporarily ill by coordinating efforts with the family/responsible party (where applicable). Follow OSHA compliance and safety procedures. Document resident status as per policy. Provide daily supervision to assigned staff and directly provide nursing care to residents as assigned. May assist with finding replacements for call-ins. 21. Participate in the admission of new residents. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), family/social activities and actively promote independent lifestyle of residents. Respond to resident call system promptly and courteously. Responsible for identification of resident medical and behavioral changes and the development and monitoring of care plans and re-assessment of each resident. Provide daily report to the Director of Health Services concerning community conditions, personnel performance, resident conditions, and needs for nursing supplies. Provide nursing care according to physician's orders and in conformance with recognized nursing practice, established standards, and administrative policies. Ensure preventative, therapeutic and rehabilitative services to residents and assists in the coordination of nursing care with care rendered by other disciplines. Make rounds with physician(s), assist in examinations and/or treatment of residents and carry out orders. Assess resident and notify attending physician and responsible party in the event of a change in the resident's condition. 30. Accurately administer prescribed medications, supervise the continuity of nursing care, respond to changes in medical condition, medications or other circumstances requiring special care needs and perform first aid as required.
