We want you, apply and work with us today! https://www.ohsu.edu/ The Clinic Radiologic Technologist operates x-ray and related equipment used to take and develop radiographs for the purpose of general medical diagnostic radiolgy. The employee in this class coordinates the technological procedure done within the medical facility and may perform functions of a medical assistant, or other duties as needed, to ensure the efficient workflow and turnover of outpatient exams. Function/Duties of Position IMAGING: Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment. * Technologists will be trained in performing the required orthopedic radiographic examinations. * Positions patient for diagnostic radiology according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements with a high regard for the safety and care of the patient. * Operates radiology equipment, determines and sets exposure factors, sets technique utilizing all relevant factors to ensure accurate and quality images with minimal and acceptable repeat rates. * Uses computer image processing, as needed to select, optimize and archive images to PACS. * Completely tracks exams in the Radiology Information system. * Processes images and related patient information for radiologist for diagnosis. DOCUMENTATION: Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers. * Follows proper procedure to positvely identify patients, asking them to repeat their full name and date of birth. * Reviews patient orders to ensure correct examination. * Labels images completely with demographic, position and other needed documentation. * Properly charges exams as required in Epicare. * Follows department and hospital procedures and policies. * Performs quality control and quality assurance, records results and reports variance from normal equipment function. MEDICAL ASSISTANT: * Manages patient flow and room turnover for assigned physicians, ensuring that all pertinent patient information is available for the attending physician, ex: medical records, surgery reports, x-rays, etc. * May accompany physician during patient exams. * Contacts physician, PAs, or resident when appropriate to assist with triage of emergency or abnormal situations. * Participates in quality assurance activities related to MA duties. * Assists physicians and other staff with set up (assembling equipment and prepares trays for minor procedures) and performance of all clinical procedures and exams. * Maintains cleanliness and preparedness of exam rooms and maintains inventory of necessary supplies for patient exam rooms and work areas. * Takes vital signs, pulse, temperature, respirations, blood pressure and weighs patients and records information in medical record. * Maintains patient educational displays in exam rooms and/or waiting rooms. Able to competently explain content of educational materials. * Completes EpicCare, Cadence Basic, etc., training when necessary as outlined by Practice Manager. Required Qualifications * Graduate of an accredited radiography program that meets current qualifications to take and pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board examinations * Will consider graduate students from approved Radiologic Technology program. * Perform diagnostic imaging studies, Radiation safety, Effective use of equipment, Record maintenance, Infection control, Quality control, Compliance, Patient Communication, Contrast media, problem solving, judgment, teamwork and taking initiative. * Must be able to work independently with a minimum of direct supervision. * Must have reliable attendance record. * Licensed as a Radiologic Technologist through the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging and Be eligible for certification as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists. * Student candidates must obtain the ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date. * Approved, Current BLS Healthcare Provider Card. * Compliance with Code of Conduct, Respect in the workplace and Applicable policies, procedures and agreements related to position, department or OHSU as a whole * Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications * CMA Certified from an accredited program. * 1 Year Radiologic Technologist Experience. Additional Details Pay Range: $34.43 - $47.27 per hour * Flex position with no guaranteed hours, and limited benefits. This position covers all days and all shifts as needed. This position works in a busy environment with frequent interruptions, multiple demands and continuous interaction with patients and other medical professionals. It requires being exposed to radiation, chemical solutions, and human tissue/fluids. Location is at OHSU outpaitient clinics, which include the Beaverton, Scappoose, Center for Health and Healing Orthopedics/Spine, and OHSU Adventist Orthopedics. * Ability to speak clearly, demonstrate patience and understanding of patients' needs. Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of patients and internal customers. Use of personal computers, copiers, phones, and fax machine.
