Hiring rate will be determined based on qualifications and internal equity Work against candidates will also be considered for this position  This is an advanced specialized professional nursing position that manages the daily operations of Maternity Clinic Services. This position involves managing a team of nurses, implementing the annual Maternal Health Contract Addenda, assisting with budget, coordinating prenatal care and delivery services for patients with Cape fear Valley OB-GYN Clinic, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and the Pregnancy Home Management Program. This nurse practices independently and demonstrates autonomous decision-making skills. The primary purpose is to ensure that pregnant women who obtain prenatal care at the health department receive the best possible care for a healthy outcome. This position serves to manage, consult, develop, execute and evaluate plans that impact the prenatal health care of each pregnant woman who receive services. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: * Conduct triage of prenatal patients who call or present to clinic * Conduct patient interviews and determines their prenatal status and needs * Assist the medical providers with examinations and treatments * Make referrals to other medical providers and community resources * Coordinate the work assignments and assist with the oversite the quality of prenatal clinic services * Collect, compile, and perform analysis, and reports maternity clinical data * Assess plan and evaluate the prenatal care clinical component of Public Health services * Serve as an outreach coordinator to increase public awareness of Maternity Clinic services Employee is subject to be called upon anytime to help the agency respond to a public health emergency which may include, but is not limited to, outbreak investigations, staffing mass dispensing or immunization clinics, providing disaster relief, or other incidents (man-made or natural and intentional or non-intentional) as they arise, or any public health response requested by the Health Director. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master's in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Individuals employed in a local Health Department without a B.S. Degree which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation or a Master's in Public Health, will be required to complete an introductory course in principles and practices of public health nursing sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services- Division of Public Health within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment in accordance with Health Services Commission Rule, 10 NCAC 46.0301. Necessary Special Qualifications - A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.  Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited universities. Applicants who have obtained their education outside of the U.S. and its territories must have their academic degrees validated as equivalent to the degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the U.S.  The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) is a referral resource for applicants who need to have their credentials certified as equivalent. If selected for the position, a formal transcript will be required within 30 days of hire.    * Considerable knowledge of and skill applications of nursing theory, practices, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health, child health and related programs. * General knowledge of and the ability to apply the principles and practices of public health including epidemiology and law. * Working knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health.  * Working knowledge of available resources and organizations. * Ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and in making decisions. * Ability to secure the cooperation of clients to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships.  * Ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.  * Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others.  * Must be competent in the ability to triage. Must have or obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Background check and negative drug test are required.
