SHIFT SUPERVISOR, NURSING
POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates, delegates and provides professional care to patients assigned, in accordance with prescribed, delegated medical regimen, nursing regimens, and medical center policies. The primary function of the shift supervisor is to provide orientation, training, education and supervision of the unit in order to ensure consistent standards of practice and competencies in the delivery of patient care on an assigned shift. The Shift Supervisor works collaboratively with the manager, serves as a resource person, consultant, role model and educator. EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE: # Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing, with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. BLS required upon completion of new hire orientation ; NRP certifications required within 6 months of hire No written or oral accountability conferences in personnel file for absences or breech of standards of behavior for one year. Preferred: BSN Specialty certification STABLE# # ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and clinical practice relevant to the age group(s) of patients assigned to the unit. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently. Incumbent must understand the needs of the organization and supports the mission, values and management of Inpatient Services. The shift supervisor must possess strong leadership skills and keeps abreast of techniques, skills, best practices and regulation appropriate to evidence based patient care and the population served.
