Job Description ECU Health About ECU Health Medical Center ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people. Position Summary Up to $30K in Commitment Incentive The Emergency Nurse Coordinator (ENC) coordinates and facilitates patient care for patients within the service line. The ENC is responsible for overseeing and enforcing criteria for safe quality patient care. The ENC coordinates patient care and staffing resources within emergency services. Through procurement of resources, teaching,guidance of nursing and organizational activities during the designated shift, the ENC facilitates delivery of patient care, patient placement and throughput. The ENC holds accountability/responsibility as a consultant for admission and determines patient placement. The ENC also participates in high acuity/high census decompression of emergency services through initial assessments, patient care, covering triage (if applicable), covering charge nurses to go into staffing, or working with housekeeping to clean patient rooms/delivery rooms to maximize throughput and/or patient transport. The ENC is responsible to ensure EMTALA regulations are maintained through the shift as appropriate for emergency services and keeps constant communication with the patient care coordinators. Minimum Requirements * Associate, Bachelor, or higher degree in Nursing required. * RN Licensure active in NC required. * Must have certification for specialty or obtain one year of hire. * American Heart Association BLS & ACLS required. * 1-2 years of experience, with one year in specialty required. * For Adult and Children's ED, must obtain TNCC within one year of hire. Preferred Requirements * 1 year Clinical Ladder status preferred. * 1 year experience as Charge and Trauma Role in emergency setting preferred. * American Heart Association PALS within one year of hire.
