Nurse (RN) - TB Program
Job Description Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Nurse (RN) for the TB program. This TB Registered Nurse is responsible for case management activities for TB cases/suspects which include: physical assessments, patient education and counseling, directly observed therapy and patient referrals. Controls the spread of TB by conducting contact elicitation/notification and testing, and by participating in active surveillance activities. Treatment and care will be provided in the clinical setting as well as known cases/suspects homes. Provides administrative support by answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, triage emergencies, answering pharmacy related questions and pulling patients charts and files. Interacts with patients by obtaining weight, height, pulse, blood pressure and medical history and sputum collections. Also performs lab work and sends samples to the courier. Performs related duties as assigned in Health Care Services including the Immunization clinic, STD Clinic, Travel Medicine Clinic, Employee Health Clinic and Adult Health Clinic. Work is performed under the direction of the Health Authority and Health Care Administrator. Candidates must possess and maintain an unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas. Must have at least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse. Current CPR certification is preferred, or must obtain within 60 days of employment. Strong computer skills are required. Work requires the ability to exercise independent thinking within the limits of policies, standards, and precedents. Bilingual preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Operator's Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. All nursing personnel will be required to complete the CDC's Core Curriculum.
