RN Specialist - ECMO - Days

The ECMO RN (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Specialist will be responsible for the operation of the ECMO circuit and equipment related to the use of short-term support in patients with cardiac and respiratory failure. The ECMO Specialist will also be responsible for planning and coordinating clinical operations, technical interfaces, outcome measures, education, and regulatory standards as related to the ECMO program. The ECMO RN Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: (3-5 core functions-75-80% of time spent) * Serves as an educator/mentor; provides clinical instruction and in-services on ECMO and related topics to other team members; in-service other healthcare providers on ECMO protocols * Assists with development and maintenance of policies, procedures and clinical standards of care related to the ECMO program * Takes call for the ECMO program and assists in facilitating transfers to IBMC, including traveling to outside facilities if necessary, maintains flexible schedule * Ensure quality, safe, and expert knowledge concerning ECMO circuit and system, assures support of the primary nursing team, medical staff, and patient's family in reference to the ECMO machine. * Perform all technical functions of the ECMO Specialist, including but not limited to building ECMO circuits, priming, troubleshooting, ensuring safe patient care delivery, and adequate support to fellow team members * Attend monthly continuing education including training, wet labs, simulations, as defined by ECMO Specialist training schedule The ECMO Specialist reports to the ECMO Nurse Program Manager This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. The ECMO Specialist participates in air medical transports via fixed wing and rotor aircrafts. * Current Oklahoma RN license * 1 year ECMO RN Coordinator experience * 2 years minimum critical care nursing experience * CCRN required within 6 months of hire * Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred * Completion of approved ECMO Specialist training course within 60 days of hire * Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written) * Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Knowledge of other computer systems
