Professional Staff Nurse, Womens Hospital Float Pool (Casual)
Are you an experienced Registered Nurse seeking a flexible opportunity in Women's Services? Join our Float Pool team at Magee Women's Hospital in Erie, PA! This role allows you to make a meaningful impact while supporting staffing needs across the hospital. This position is casual with flexible hours, at least 30 shifts per year. Title and starting pay rate of this position may vary based on years of experience. Responsibilities: * Relationship Building: Cultivate productive working relationships with colleagues and patients by demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment. Embrace cultural differences and promote a positive work environment that balances professional and personal life. * Patient Education: Utilize adult learning principles to provide effective teaching to patients, families, and new staff. Ensure smooth transitions in care by equipping patients with the necessary knowledge for their health journey. * Holistic Care: Apply the nursing process within a Relationship-Based Care framework to create a healing environment. Collaborate with patients to develop personalized care plans that address their clinical, social, and emotional needs. * Effective Communication: Exhibit strong communication skills, ensuring that patient conditions are clearly articulated to the care team. Maintain thorough documentation that enhances caregiver communication and supports patient safety. * Professional Development: Take ownership of your professional growth by participating in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives. Engage actively in your care team and support efforts to enhance the practice environment. * Quality Improvement: Identify opportunities for enhancing patient satisfaction and care quality. Participate in department-specific quality improvement initiatives and utilize evidence-based practices to inform clinical decisions. Qualifications: * At least one year of nursing experience in MedSurg/ NICU/ or Post Partum. * BSN is preferred. * Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care across all age groups in your assigned unit. * Understand principles of growth and development over the lifespan and assess patient data to identify age-specific care needs. * Ability to build and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, support staff, and patients/families. * Competence in navigating complex environments, managing multiple priorities, and using specialized equipment effectively. * Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills related to patient care. * Physical ability to walk, stand, lift, and position patients frequently. * UPMC offers a variety of flexible work arrangements, including options primarily for night or weekend shifts with premium pay differentials. Candidates must have at least six months of nursing experience to qualify for these programs and may need to complete orientation during regular business hours. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: * Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the state of employment or in a state covered by a compact agreement. * UPMC-approved national certification is preferred. * CPR certification required based on AHA standards, including didactic and skills demonstration required within 30 days of hire. * Act 33 clearance with renewal. * Act 34 clearance with renewal. * Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal. If you hold an out-of-state license and change residency to the state where the facility is located, you must apply for licensure within 60 days.
