ThePsychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse at the Orange County Correctional Facility provides general medical care and treatment to inmates of Orange County Corrections within the scope of their license and under the supervision of a licensed physician. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Must possess and maintain State of Florida licensure as a Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner. Preferences Prior experience in a Correctional setting General Functions Provides general medical care and treatment to inmates of Orange County Corrections within the scope of their license and under the supervision of a licensed physician. Representative Duties/Assignments - may vary Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse * Conducts psychiatric assessments to include mental status examinations. * Monitors medication therapies and prescribes medication changes as necessary in accordance with established protocols. * Conducts assessments to detect the presence of movement disorders and other side effects of medication therapy and prescribes treatment as indicated in accordance with established protocols. * Initiates laboratory monitoring associated with psychiatric treatments and interprets and evaluates results. * Conducts physical examinations in response to inmate complaints, establishes preliminary diagnosis and prescribes treatment or refers to the physician in accordance with established protocols. * Conducts individual and group psychotherapy as indicated. * Participates with other members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team in assessment and developing individualized treatment plan specific for the inmate. * Performs other duties as assigned.
