Inpatient Pediatric Nurse Practitioner


* JOB RELATIONSHIPS * Carteret Health Care is seeking an Inpatient Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) to provide comprehensive healthcare to pediatric patients admitted to Carteret Health Care. The Inpatient PNP will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage and coordinate the care of pediatric patients from infancy through adolescence. They will assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients and their families to ensure the best possible outcomes during their hospital stay. * DEFINITION OF POSITION *

  • Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive health assessments of pediatric patients upon admission. Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order relevant diagnostic tests. Analyze and interpret test results to formulate accurate diagnoses. * Treatment Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for pediatric patients based on their medical condition and individual needs. Prescribe medications, therapies, and other interventions as appropriate, under the supervision of a licensed physician or within state regulations. Monitor patients' responses to treatments and adjust care plans accordingly. * Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a multidisciplinary approach. Communicate effectively with patients' families, explaining treatment plans, answering questions, and providing education about the patient's condition and ongoing care needs. * Advocacy and Support: Act as an advocate for pediatric patients and their families, ensuring their preferences and concerns are considered in the care plan. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during their hospital stay. * Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and outcomes. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements related to documentation and record-keeping. * Education and Training: Stay current with the latest developments in pediatric healthcare by participating in continuing education programs and professional development activities. Serve as a resource for nursing staff and other healthcare providers, offering guidance on pediatric care best practices. * Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and hospital processes related to pediatric care. * QUALIFICATIONS * Professional * Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialization. * Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP). * State licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with prescriptive authority. * Prior experience in pediatric care, preferably in an inpatient hospital setting. * Strong clinical and critical thinking skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. * Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment. * Commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and family-centered care to pediatric patients.
