What Youll Do The certified clinical hemodialysis technician (CCHT) performs the home hemodialysis treatment procedure delivering safe, efficient care of the highest quality. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: * High School diploma/GED * National CCHT Certification * Current CPR certification * One-year clinical home hemodialysis experience preferred Required Skills and Competencies: * Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding * Computer proficiency Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Understands basic renal function and the consequences of renal failure * Demonstrates basic knowledge of treatment modalities available to ESRD patients * Promotes the education of patients and their understanding of their disease and its treatment * Understands and performs the home hemodialysis procedure according to Rendevor Dialysis policies and procedures * Ensures that all safety checks are completed before initiation of dialysis treatment * Monitors and records dialysis treatment parameters such as vital signs, weight changes, etc. and communicates information to licensed personnel according to Rendevor Dialysis policy and procedures * Adheres to Rendevor Dialysiss infection control policies and procedures understanding the hazards and consequences associated with failing to follow those procedures * Performs thorough patient assessments, as evidenced by documentation and feedback to the licensed personnel * Communicates significant information to appropriate team members and documents in a clear, concise, and accurate manner * Obtains blood samples and culture specimens as ordered and performs routine tests * Administers oxygen as necessary by cannula or mask under direction of the nurse * Participates in CPR as needed * Prepares treatment area prior to initiation of patient treatment and post patient treatment per Rendevor Dialysis policy and procedures * Prepares daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients as directed * Helps to maintain a neat and clean environment * Prepares, records and files laboratory reports as directed * Performs all tasks necessary for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the unit * Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and Rendevor Dialysis policies * Participates in the IDT and QAPI committee and attends meetings as needed and/or requested * Identifies and reports concerns, issues, and opportunities for improvement when identified * Participates in performance improvement projects within licensure, certification, and scope of practice * Participates in annual QAPI training and other continuing education, as assigned, and required * Provides suggestions for alternate strategies for indicators not improving * Assists in building and maintaining a facility/clinic culture of safety and quality * Reports errors and near misses so that steps can be taken to prevent recurrence * Reports any negative feedback, complaints, grievances from other staff members, patients, and families * Uses evidence-based guidelines and proper infection control practices * Participates in self and/or peer evaluations * Promotes a teamwork approach by offering information, advice, and assistance to all unit staff members in a positive, courteous, and cooperative manner * Checks email at least weekly and responds appropriately and timely ; uses company-provided email for all work-related email communications * Adheres to company policies and procedures * Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance and punctuality * Performs other duties as assigned Supervision: * This position will report directly to the Unit Leader. Work Environment: This job exists in a medical unit of a post-acute facility. This role may include exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens. This role routinely involves the use of both medical and standard office equipment. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to push, pull or lift supplies and products up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
