Position Type: Certified Professional/Multi-Level Grades Date Posted: 2/15/2024 Location: Special Education &nbsp&nbspAdditional Information: Show/Hide Spring Branch Independent School District Job Description Speech Language Pathologist (Bilingual) Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (Bilingual) Reports To: Building Principal, the Supervisor for Speech Language Pathology Services, and the Director of Special Education Classification: Professional Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Days: 188 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Administrative/Professional Pay Plan, Pay Grade 104 Contract: Non-Chapter 21 Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Responsible for the assessment of language functioning and/or communication disorders, the impact of these disorders on the student's ability to profit from instruction, as well as the development and implementation of intervention strategies designed to help reduce or eliminate this interference. Provide consultation to teachers, parents, other support personnel, community agencies and other appropriate resource personnel concerning individual educational plan design, implementation, evaluation, development of appropriate learning/instructional strategies and access of needed services. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification: * Valid Texas License in Speech Language Pathology or Valid Texas Education Agency certification in accordance with applicable statutes. * Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (preferred). Special Knowledge/Skills: * Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. * Proficient in the effective use of technology. * Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. * Bilingual in Spanish. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Assessment: * Schedule, plan and administer appropriate assessment strategies for evaluating students for communication disorders. * Prepare written assessment reports according to district guidelines and timelines in collaboration with other professionals. * Provide consultation to students to identify potential speech/language impairments and provide strategies to support student learning and communication skills. Intervention: * Plan and implement appropriate intervention strategies for communication disorders utilizing flexible models of service delivery and intervention. * Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services. * Provide consultation for regular and special education teachers and staff to identify strategies to support and facilitate student learning and communication skills. * Schedule, coordinate with staff and parents, and facilitate Admission, Review, and Dismissal meetings according to district guidelines and timelines. Program Management: * Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required, including case records, test results, statistical data, and test inventories. * Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the areas of psychological services, assessment, placement, and planning for special education services. * Comply with all district and local campus routines and regulations. * If applicable, supervise SLP assistants or interns according to district procedures, consistent with Texas Board of Examiners in Speech Language Pathology and American Speech Language Hearing Association guidelines. Professional Growth and Development: * Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment. * Maintain license and ASHS certification (if applicable), including required professional development. Communication: * Maintain positive and effective relationships with supervisors and other district staff. * Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents. * Uphold district confidentiality procedures.
