Nurse Manager - G19W Leukemia - Evening/Night Shift SUMMARY Function: Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates individualized nursing care; nursing care management and nursing personnel management for a designated area. Scope: Impacts patient care and daily operations assigned patient care areas. Essential Job Functions: Manages nursing administration in identification of purpose and goals of nursing service and nursing education. Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates nursing care. Coordinates staffing. Manages budget preparation toward provision of adequate personnel, supplies and equipment. Responsible for nursing care in assigned area. Counsels and evaluates nursing personnel for optimum performance. Develops and participates in orientation and in-service education programs for areas of specialization. Collaborates with faculty and assists respective area. Other duties as assigned. SUPERVISION Received: Director or designee. Given: Assigned staff. REQUIREMENTS: Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Education Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing or related field. Experience Required: Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Experience Preferred: One year experience in cancer care. Licensure/Certification Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certification in oncology or specialty practice area. American Heart Certification in oncology or specialty practice area. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area. Other Required: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Experience Required: Five years of professional nursing experience, to include one year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Licenses/Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
