Director of Nursing
The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) Director of Nurses provides strategic leadership and oversight for operations and service delivery of a 16-bed acute mental health inpatient facility, ensuring the provision of compassionate, high-quality care to individuals served. As a critical nursing leadership role, this position requires the ability to create, lead, and cultivate an expert clinical team with demonstrated outcomes in compliance with contractual and Center requirements, strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team. Duties and responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to, the following: * Provide clinical and administrative leadership to a multi-disciplinary treatment team, including Registered Nurses (RNs), Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs), and Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) positions. * Ensure appropriate coverage for all shifts, in alignment with state and contract standards for a CSU. * Provide clinical coverage as needed as well as maintain availability to provide guidance to CSU staff by phone after-hours, when needed. * Promotes high quality clinical care, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, standards, and guidelines, including Center policy and procedure, Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Texas Board of Nursing guidelines, and other relevant standards and practices. * Lead and supervise staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and professional growth. * Conduct recruitment, training, and performance evaluations for personnel. * Develop and implement training programs to enhance staff competencies. * Complete data tracking activities to monitor practices and programmatic outcomes to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and quality metrics. * Collect and review outcome indicators and measures. * Foster collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams and community providers. * Manage the program budget, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and resource allocation. * Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and outcomes. * Ensure accurate and timely documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards. * Promote a trauma informed, recovery-oriented approach to care. * Oversee assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients admitted to the CSU. Position Requirements: * Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas * Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing education program * 3 years nurse management experience preferred * Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred * Ability to pass Computer competency, Outlook and Typing test (30wpm) * Ability to lift 45 lbs. and pass physical agility exam * Valid Driver's license and insurable through Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare Effective January 1, 2017 all Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare campuses are smoke free. Offenses that are not an absolute bar to employment but may be considered a contraindication will also be considered during the pre-employment process. Tri-County will also complete a driver's license check. All applicants, employees, contractors and volunteers will be checked prior to hire and monthly through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of the Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals. All applicants are required to successfully complete a drug screening and a physical agility test prior to new hire orientation. Applicants who are selected for a position in the Criminal Justice/Jail Diversion Department, TCOOMMI, and those who provide services to TCOOMMI, i.e., psychiatrists, nurses, etc., must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI upon initial hire and annually thereafter.
