Director of Nursing
The CSU Director of Nursing is a critical nursing leadership role at Tri-County and will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer. This position requires the ability to create, lead, and cultivate an expert clinical team with demonstrated outcomes in compliance with contractual and Center requirements. This position's duties will include the following: * Provide clinical and administrative oversight for the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Registered Nurses (RNs), Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs), and Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) positions at the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) * Facilitate and coordinate monthly coverage for all shifts for CSU programs * Provides clinical coverage when needed * Follows and keeps nursing policies and procedures up to date using Texas Administrative Code (TAC) and Texas Board of Nursing guidelines * Provide staff with input regarding clinical intervention including emergency response * Participates in weekday treatment team staffings and other committee meetings as assigned * Completes three month and annual evaluations for all employees * Interviews applicants in alignment with necessary staffing pattern needs * Ensures in-depth training for each position is provided and completes New Hire Checklists * Provides ongoing auditing of RN, QMHP, and PNA documentation for quality purposes and to determine if necessary time frames were met within the guidelines * Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, providers * Attends quarterly Medical/Nursing Consortium meetings * Ensure infection control practices are being followed per Tri-County's Infections Control Policy and Procedure * Utilize the established protocol for consulting with Medical Director, APRN/PA's, and on-call providers as needed * Completing data tracking activities and monitoring programmatic outcomes * Problem solving daily tasks to ensure optimal programmatic functioning * Collecting and reviewing outcome indicators and measures * Available for guidance of CSU staff by phone when needed * Schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, and on-call every other weekend Position Requirements: * Active, unencumbered RN licensure in the State of Texas, in good standing * Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing school * 3 years nursing management experience required * Ability to pass Computer competency, Outlook and Typing test (30wpm) * Ability to lift 45 lbs and pass physical agility exam * Valid Driver's license and insurable through Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare Effective January 1, 2017 all Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare campuses are smoke free. Offenses that are not an absolute bar to employment but may be considered a contraindication will also be considered during the pre-employment process. Tri-County will also complete a driver's license check. All applicants, employees, contractors and volunteers will be checked prior to hire and monthly through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of the Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals. All applicants are required to successfully complete a drug screening and a physical agility test prior to new hire orientation. Applicants who are selected for a position in the Criminal Justice/Jail Diversion Department, TCOOMMI, and those who provide services to TCOOMMI, i.e., psychiatrists, nurses, etc., must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI upon initial hire and annually thereafter. Applicants who have lived out of state for two or more years from the date of submission of this application must have a Federal background check by fingerprinting through the FBI if they are selected for a position.
