Maternal Health Nurse Consultant
The Maternal Health Nurse Consultant position serves as the statewide lead in providing perinatal health related technical assistance, consultation and training to nurses, advanced practice and obstetric providers at the local health department and within the Women, Infant, and Community Wellness Section. The Maternal Health Nurse Consultant will utilize local health service data to identify areas of improvement in data reporting and/or prenatal care services provided. This position is responsible for assessing and planning perinatal health related training to enhance knowledge and skills, particularly among staff working in a local health department maternal health clinic. The Maternal Health Nurse Consultant provides technical assistance to local health departments who currently assure or plan to assure prenatal care services to another local health department or private practice in the community. The Maternal Health Nurse Consultant stays abreast of current perinatal care guidelines and recommendations from leading sources, such as the CDC or ACOG, to ensure the agreement addendum reflects current and evidence based clinical practice. Management Preferences: * Five years of clinical experience in maternal health nursing, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
