Charge Nurse- Western Correctional Center for Women (Black Mountain)
This Charge Nurse position is located at the Western Correctional Center for Women in Black Mountain, NC. WCC is a minimum custody facility on a 100+ acre compound that can house up to 366 female offenders. This position responsibilities will include (but not limited to): * provides professional nursing care/treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols in a supervisory capacity. * Employees in this role are responsible for managing and supervising daily nursing care on an assigned shift or assigned area, or in a preceptor role, coordinating all licensed and non-licensed staff. * Work includes conducting needs assessments, developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans and providing patient care and education to offenders in a state correctional facility. * Position requires sick call assessments, medication administration, phlebotomy sticks, transcribing MD/PA orders, patient education, thorough medical documentation, monitoring/treatment of communicable diseases and responding to emergencies. Position will be the Charge/Lead RN and may be required to work any shift based on current needs of the institution to include weekends and holidays with limited clinical supervision. The Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 19,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving the lives and property of its citizens through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry. The Division of Comprehensive Health Services is dedicated to providing evidence-based, compassionate, and constitutionally consistent medical care to all offenders in custody. Their goal is to ensure that all offenders receive full-spectrum medical care from the time of entry until their release. The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
