Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager - Team Coordinator, RN for the Surgical Unit 1-5K. The Team Coordinator RN will assist the Manager with the daily 24-hour operations of the unit. This is a Full Time, ROTATING SHIFT position. Management Incentive Bonus potential available with this position. Two years of nursing experience required, must have previous leadership experience, and a BSN. Located on the 6th floor of the Kaufman Building, this 42-bed unit comprised of about 65 clinical staff members specializes in the care of the Adult Surgical Patient. Registered Nurses are assigned to PODs to assist patients recovering from surgeries: Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. While working in this unit you can care for patients that may have renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure for a well-rounded nursing experience. This is a telemetry monitored unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days. This unit also has 6 beds that are for Epilepsy monitoring and is the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team.
