Regional School Health Nurse Consultant


This is an Internal Posting open ONLY for current North Carolina State Government employees  The Regional School Health Nurse Consultant serves as the primary resource for local health departments (LHDs), hospitals, and school systems (PSUs both public and charter, private and specialty schools) in the region, for the assessment of student health needs and for the development, implementation, and evaluation of school nursing services and other health services related activities to meet these needs. School nursing/health services are directed toward all students including those with chronic health illness and disabilities. As staff in the School, Adolescent and Child Health Unit, this consultants' s responsibilities include: 1) school health program assessment, planning and development 2) school health program implementation, monitoring, and quality assurance 3) clinical and program consultation 4) coordination, collaboration, training, and resources development. Visit website for benefits.To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form.  Any information listed under the text resume section or on an attachment will not be considered for qualifying credit.  Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following: * Effective communication, both oral and written, demonstrated through writing samples and previous oral presentations. * Working knowledge of population-based health and public health principles acquired through documented education and/or experience. * Demonstrated understanding of local, state and federal laws, policies and standards, including NC Board of Nursing requirements that govern NC school health, acquired through experience as a school nurse or public health nurse. * Skill in collection and use of data as a basis for program growth and evaluation, demonstrated through previous experience with data based reporting or similar experience * Experience with technology and ability to effectively use common computer-based application including Microsoft Word, Power-Point, and Excel in daily work activities. * Demonstrated knowledge of the research process and the use and role of evidence-based information and practices as demonstrated by work experience.  Management Preferences: * Nursing certification preferred Physical Requirements:  * Unencumbered driver's license for travel within region, to training events and to Raleigh for 40% of position time.  Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of clinical experience in the area of specialization.
