Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner - Emergency Department
Hours of Work : Days Of Week : Work Shift : PRN (United States of America) Job Description : Your Job Purpose: The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to the sexual assault victim. The SANE exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up, support and participation in legal proceedings. Your Job Requirements: • Associates degree in Nursing, BSN preferred • Ability to work independently, effective time management, problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to react calmly, objectively, and effectively in emergency situations, maintain a high standard of ethical behavior and personal expertise in the performance of your work. • Valid and Current Texas RN license. • Current SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) certification from the Texas Attorney General office. • Current TNCC Your Responsibilities: • Performs a complete medical-forensic examination with the support of photographic evidence. • Maintain chain of custody and confidentiality of patient information according to HIPAA guidelines. • Provide factual testimony in court. • Works collaboratively with the Emergency Dept STAFFnd the Turning point Rape Crisis Center to meet the acute needs of the patient • Function as a forensic consultant for child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse, and other victims of violence. • Ability to be on call for at least 60 hours per month, to include days, weekends and holidays and work irregular hours due to the nature of the program Methodist Dallas Medical Center is one of North Texas' best places to work.
