UPMC Shadyside, a three-time Magnet-designated hospital, is currently hiring both graduate and experienced Registered Nurses to support the Medical Oncology Unit, 5 Main. About the Position & Unit: 5 Main is an oncology unit that specializes in the care of patients with cancer and blood disorders. 5 Main offers revolutionary cancer treatment and actively participates in oncology research. It is a fast-paced unit that is advancing cancer care. Nurses on this unit will participate in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, side effect management of cancer and cancer therapies, treatment of oncology emergencies, and provide palliative and end-of-life care. They will participate in clinical trials through the administration of clinical trial agents, monitoring of patients, and development of standards of care. Specialized training courses are provided to allow nurses to become competent in delivering oncology care, antineoplastic therapies, and complementary therapies. The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $31.60. Qualifications: Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: * Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. * Current Licensure of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) * Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date, or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. * Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
