City/State Norfolk, VA Overview Work Shift Third (Nights) (United States of America) Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring an experienced Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)! Shift: Part Time Nights, working two 12-hour shifts per week. $10,000 Sign on Bonus and Relocation Assistance available for Qualified Candidates! The Sentara Heart Hospital, a 112-bed care facility, is #2 for Cardiology services and Heart Surgery in the State of Virginia and ranks #24 in the nation for best heart programs. Cardiac ICU Unit Description: 10 Bed Unit on the 2nd floor of Sentara Heart Hospital Patient population includes Cardiac patients (not surgical), pulmonary hypertension, heart attack, heart failure, sepsis, and this unit is the MRT for the Heart Hospital. Experience: ICU experience Education: Diploma RN, associate degree RN, bachelor's degree RN, or master's degree RN. All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire and ACLS within 1 year of hire. Virginia RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible. Nurse Transition to Practice Program: At Sentara, we are committed to ensuring our nurses thrive from the very beginning of their journey. To support this, all nurses new to critical care will participate in our comprehensive 12-week Transition to Practice program. This program is designed to blend practical skills with hands-on training, professional development, and mentorship, equipping you with the confidence and expertise needed to excel in your critical care nursing career. Our Transition to Practice program features a mix of classroom teaching methodologies and a preceptor-based unit orientation. You will engage in 8 sessions that include live simulations, case studies, and problem-based learning. These sessions cover essential topics such as critical care patient assessment and documentation, respiratory and cardiac care, vasoactive medications, hemodynamics and invasive monitoring, neurological care, post-operative and procedural care, GI/renal systems, ACLS mega code, sedation, analgesia, neuromuscular blockade, and effective communication with providers and families. Trauma 1 Level Care and Team Culture at Sentara: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is one of just five Level 1 trauma centers in Virginia. It is home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance, a teaching facility, the region's first Magnet hospital and nationally ranked heart program at the Sentara Heart Hospital.
