Title: PH Nurse Supervisor State Role Title: Registered Nurse II Hiring Range: $88,730 - $106,510 Pay Band: NV 5 Agency: Virginia Department of Health Location: Alexandria HQ Agency Website: www.vdh.virginia.gov Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Alexandria Health Department is seeking two (2) experienced, innovative nurses who are capable of demonstrating progressive job responsibility to lead and supervise either our Communicable Disease Program or our Maternal Child Health Program. The Communicable Disease Nursing Supervisor is responsible for our Tuberculosis, Newcomer Health and Immunization clinical activities and staff, including two senior nurses and other front-line nursing and support staff. Responsible for coordinating immunization efforts for the community in conjunction with other program areas as well as coordination of outbreaks as it relates to nursing. The Maternal Child Health (MCH) Nursing supervisor responsibility to lead and supervise its Maternal Child Health (MCH) clinical programs and staff (including up 10 FTE professional and support staff persons who provide over 3000 patients visits per year). This supervisor provides direct supervision of Registered Nurse I and II and other professional and support staff; responsible for the nursing component of the agency's child health, prenatal, Baby Care Program and MCH Field programs. Both positions responsibilities include but are not limited to: manages part of the agency's comprehensive nursing program through program development and management; direct supervision and personnel management of registered nurses and other professional and support staff including developing position descriptions, recruiting and evaluating job performance and teambuilding; developing and monitoring grant budgets and responsible for the nursing component of the agency's requirements as it relates to each program. Serve on district nursing management team related to the program supervised. Minimum Qualifications * Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia * Relevant experience and strong knowledge of public health principles and practices; infectious diseases, treatment, and prevention measures; public health nursing and patient/family case management; public health surveillance systems; quality assurance techniques; and program development, management, and evaluation processes * Strong oral and written communication, clinical, analytical, and computer skills * Experience and ability to provide leadership and mentorship to professional staff and colleagues; to maintain effective professional working relationships with clients, coworkers, and others; to work independently and as part of a team; to supervise staff and coordinate the work of others * Experience and ability to analyze data on conditions of public health significance; prepare written reports and educational materials; develop and implement training activities; write and manage grants; manage budgets and monitor spending; provide technical assistance; and interpret and apply policies and procedures Additional Considerations * Experienced in childhood immunizations and schedules * Experience working with maternal/child health and/or doing home visits Special Instructions You will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
