Multiple Options Available NC CRISIS MANAGEMENT-60600(06000.60600) 400 WEST RANSON STREET Direct Client/Patient Care Primarily Evenings with weekends/OT as needed The Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) is responsible for overseeing the psychiatric needs of children, adolescents, and/or adults, with primary focus on children and adolescents. The position includes conducting formal and informal assessments, clinical interviews, and developing treatment plans and medication regimens for children, adolescents, and/or adults with complex mental or emotional problems. Duties may include facilitating groups, conducting educational workshops and in service training for staff. The Nurse Practitioner will adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, professional standards, and state and federal requirements. Must attend 12 hours of Person Centered Thinking training prior to or within 90 days of hire. Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner required. Specialty in Psychiatry preferred. One or two years post-graduate clinical experience in a mental health setting preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid, current and unrestricted license to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. Must be credentialed to serve on the Medical Staff (provide all related information as requested and needed for credentialing process). Must be at least 21 years of age. Experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred. Valid driver's license and CPR certification required. Assessment and Treatment: Review patient records, interview patient and family to determine health and psychiatric status and take a history. Establish a differential diagnosis list and a working diagnosis. Consult reference materials as needed to identify symptoms, make diagnosis and develop approaches to treatment. In collaboration with the treatment team and Psychiatrist, and adhering to evidence based medicine and established clinical guidelines, develop treatment plans including type, frequency, intensity and duration of therapy. Evaluate effectiveness of treatment and modify plan as necessary. Observe individuals at play, in group interactions or other situations. Order appropriate medical tests as required within limits of practitioner's license. Provide counseling and instruction regarding patient's psychiatric and health concerns. Communicate pertinent medical information to supervising Physician and initiate medical regimens as dictated by the Physician. Initiate appropriate evaluation and management of emergent or urgent situations. Respond to emergencies in a timely manner and follow up with recommendations. Medication Management: Prescribe medications or implement Physician's recommendations within established practice standards, monitor effectiveness, and educate staff, patient/client and family members on potential benefits and possible side effects. Modify medication regimen as necessary based on patient's/clients response to therapy. Provide any information required to facilitation authorization of medications. Documentation: Accurately document clinical findings. Utilize templates endorsed by the KidsPeace Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer in organizing and writing/dictating psychiatric evaluations or updates, medication reviews, progress notes, discharge summaries and other such documentation that may be typically required. Insure that all services provided are documented in a complete, thorough and timely manner as established by the organization. Complete any required insurance enrollment documents as required to appropriately bill for services rendered. Leadership and Supervision: Maintain a documented cooperative relationship with a KidsPeace medical staff Psychiatrist. Participate in medical staff committees and functions as assigned. Provide supervision to students as assigned through established KidsPeace university affiliation agreements. Administration: Participate in efficient operation of KidsPeace programs by: a. Participating in the established on call rotation including weekdays, weekends, nights and holidays. b. Accepting short term assignments in other locations and/or services based on the needs of the organization. c. Participating in utilization review activities including, but not limited to development of standards, insurance company appeals and teleconferences and provision of prior authorization information. d. Participating in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Quality Assessment/Improvement (Q.A.I.) and peer review standards. e. Providing in a timely manner all related information as requested and needed for medical staff and insurance credentialing and Human Resources employment processes. All other duties as assigned by management.
