Registered Nurse (Wayne County) -- Temporary Solutions

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay:  $29.30 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application)  NOTE:  "See Resume" is not acceptable to show work experience history. Average 29 hours per work week These part-time temporary positions will be assigned to the Department of Health & Human Services - DSOHF - O'Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center.  The Registered Nurse at O'Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center will perform specialized nursing and medical treatment and deliver care to developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals, many who are also medically fragile. This position carries out nursing care plans based on the diagnoses and pertinent medical information and individual needs. The registered nurse will independently carry out the nursing care process and will set up an environment to assist individuals in obtaining maximum level of functioning and/or recovery. They will administer medication, participate in interdisciplinary team process, assist in coordinating care for the individuals and work closely with the medical doctors, psychologist, social worker, recreational therapist, dietician, and other professionals to assist the individual in meeting their maximum potential for independence and function while providing the best quality of life possible. *CPR and CPI required upon employment and must be recertified annually. [NOTE:  Qualified applicants must meet and CLEARLY reflect on their application training and experience and all knowledge, skills, abilities and any experience or competencies specified in the supplemental question(s) to be considered.] * Knowledge of professional principles, practices and theory of nursing and its application. * Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of nursing care. * Knowledge of medical terminology. * Knowledge of medications and the physiological effect of those medications. * Ability to independently plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. * Ability to lead a team; skill in delegation and making assignments. * Ability to guide and counsel subordinate staff and provide feedback and advice/counsel to nursing staff on care rendered to patients. * Ability to provide patient and family education on disease processes, treatment and self-care. * Ability to demonstrate patience in dealing with patients, clients, and families. * Ability to communicate information to patients, families and staff in a concise and descriptive manner, verbally, in writing or by demonstration. * Ability to appropriately respond to emergency situations. * Ability to effectively teach nursing staff through orientation and on the job training.
