Buckner Retirement Services Community: Calder Woods Location: Beaumont, TX - Onsite Address: 7080 Calder Ave, Beaumont, TX 77706 Shift: 8 Hours - 8a-5pm, Saturdays and Sundays Job Schedule: Occasional position Required Credentials- Must be a Registered Nurse We are seeking a Weekend Nursing Supervisor to join our community committed to delivering outstanding food to our residents. As a Weekend Nursing Supervisor, you will play an important role in all phases of resident care that meets or exceeds Buckner quality, service, and hospitality standards. What you'll do: * Performs timely and accurate resident assessments utilizing assessment tools, reports assessment to supervisor and charts in resident records. Monitor and ensure compliance with resident health care plan. Administers and supervises care prescribed by physicians. Participate in physician visits to residents, record visits in charts. * Provides oversight of medication management to ensure MAR's are correct and that the residents receive medications timely and accurately. Administers prescribed medication to residents. Works with consultant pharmacist as needed to ensure community maintains compliance. Manages pharmacy re-orders in ways that align with community policies and regulatory requirements. * Makes daily rounds to observe delivery of services, resident status, meal service, meal service process and quality of care provided to residents. Engage in conversation with staff to share successes and opportunities for improvement, as needed. Demonstrate expected behaviors so staff have opportunities for visual and verbal learning. * Maintain current proficient working knowledge of and comply with all local, state and federal licensing requirements; meet with managers regularly to review resident care. Maintain resident medical records and ensure charting is performed in a timely manner and in accordance with state regulations. * Assist leadership in strategic planning and direction for nursing services operations; evaluate results, identify opportunities, initiate improvements, and measure performance against objectives. * Administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections; performs in-house testing procedures; takes and records vital signs. * Assist in maintaining current health care plans according to a schedule rotation and documenting acute episodes or significant changes in resident status. * Supervise nursing staff and aides in the performance of their duties by monitoring their work, providing feedback and redirection as needed; assign aides to residents, specifying break times and special duties to be completed. Participate in the performance review and evaluation process for nursing and aide staff. Set staff goals daily and at other frequency as needed. Participate in investigations following allegations of inappropriate behavior by staff. Learn about skills gaps through observation of work and conversations about areas for improvement. Assist associates to develop action plans to efficiently close skill gaps and to develop new skills. Provide constructive feedback to associates during conversations that support listening, learning, and successful outcomes. Assist associates to learn to exhibit 5STARS behaviors toward others. * Provide support and provide care in Assisted Living and Memory Care as needed in addition to role in healthcare services including processing new admissions, blood sugar and insulin administration, and administration of narcotics. * Provides timely and accurate communication to families to promote healthy relationships and to keep them informed about the resident's condition and community events. What you'll bring: * Requires basic understanding of a specialized area of knowledge normally acquired through four years of high school, plus two to three years of college or vocational school and appropriate license/certification. Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions. * Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Must hold and maintain current Texas nursing licensure. Must complete and/or meet training, certification required by BSL/Buckner and the State of Texas. Previous experience in long term care preferred. * Requires proficient ability to professionally speak, read and write English and to be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians and associates. * Work deals mostly with areas such as preparing and reading data and figures, client records, medical orders, visual inspection involving small details, using measurements devices, dispensing medicines. Visual work is primarily close to observer. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are not as critical as the ability to distinguish small details and markings very near to the observer. Color perception for some tasks (e.g., dispensing meds, assessment of resident condition) is important. * Ability to recognize differences in sounds, such as voices or noises that are loud and playful instead of angry and combative required. * Requires ability to exercise independent judgment under broad nursing case guidelines. Exercises initiative, patience, tact, and confidentiality; demonstrates administrative and leadership ability; ability to analyze and evaluate objectively required. Requires ability to work under little direct supervision. * Minimum one-year related experience * Requires ability to use up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds continuously to move food service and preparation equipment and other objects. * Requires ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time; ability to turn, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, stand and walk over 75% of shift.
