JOB SUMMARY: The Nurse Navigator is a clinically competent, registered professional nurse who delivers care to patients through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining standards of professional nursing for the age groups served. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. The Nurse Navigator functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate and educator for oncology patients. Responsible for ensuring all patients with an oncology and/or hematology diagnosis receives quality and comprehensive services. Under minimal supervision, provides professional nursing care for patients following established protocols and practices. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. * Oncology experience preferred. * Licensed to practice in the state of Oklahoma. * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card or completion of course within 30 days of hire. * Current Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification. * Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or other national certification in oncology required within 2 years. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare reports and read written materials. * Must have strength and stamina for prolonged walking, standing, and dealing with stressful situations. * Able to hear, or correctable with hearing devices, and able to talk to converse with others in person and over the phone. * Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel. * Able to hear, see, and feel to accurately assess, monitor, and administer care. * Possesses fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to give care (i.e.: insert catheters, start IVs, administer medications, and handle instruments).
