Speech Language Pathologist (2 positions)
JOB DESCRIPTION: To reduce or remediate communication deficits which interfere with the student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Management 1. Assists staff in observing, describing, and referring suspected speech and language disorders. 2. Participates in student study committee and placement committee decisions for students being considered for speech and language services as needed. 3. Provides and/or interprets speech-language assessment data which leads to appropriate diagnosis. 4. Provides appropriate speech-language therapy programs in a variety of settings designed to remediate specific student disorders. 5. Assists administrators and support teaching personnel in interpreting program procedures. 6. Maintains current knowledge of Federal and State Education laws and regulations including licensure regulations. School/Organizational Climate 7. Collaborates with classroom teachers, school staff and administrators to aid student progress. School/Organizational Improvement 8. Assists staff in the collection and maintenance of appropriate student records necessary for compliance and monitoring. 9. Actively assists campus personnel in meeting campus action plan objectives. Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management 10. Order necessary supplies and materials within allotted budget. Student Management 11. Manages test and therapy materials in a fiscally responsible manner. 12. Assures student/parent information is handled in a confidential manner. 13. Maintains accurate required student records. Professional Growth and Development 14. Maintains membership and participates in professional organizations and/or updates professional skills through staff development activities. 15. Maintains state licensure and ASHA certification. 16. Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or superintendent School/Community Relations 17. Provides information and support to parents and families 18. Assists in referrals to appropriate community agencies and specialists. EXPERIENCE: One year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience preferred. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Master' s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA) ASHA Certification CCC preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions Ability to instruct and manage student behavior Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills CONTACT INFORMATION: WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to concentrate (detailed work), communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, read, coordinate district functions, compile, compute instruct, and maintain emotional control under stress.
