Professional Staff Nurse, Endoscopy
The Endoscopy Department is looking for a Professional Staff Nurse to join their team! This position is full time, mostly day shift with some weekend/ on-call requirements. Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and nursing experience. Overview: You will be part of a team that cares for both inpatients and outpatients needing both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures. You will learn both the documentation role and how to assist the physician during numerous, specialized procedures, as well as being trained in the preoperative and postoperative settings. Objective: The Professional Staff Nurse sets standards for care quality and is accountable for delivering nursing care. This role involves managing patient care for groups of patients and their families using independent judgment, communication, and teamwork. Key responsibilities include leadership, collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers, and maintaining relationships to achieve desired patient outcomes. The nurse also demonstrates a commitment to both the community and the nursing profession. Responsibilities: * Builds productive relationships with colleagues and patients, demonstrating accountability, enthusiasm, and commitment, while recognizing cultural differences and promoting a healthy work-life balance. * Applies knowledge of adult learning principles in educating patients, families, students, and new staff, and fosters an environment of continuous development through feedback and open dialogue. * Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking to develop holistic, patient-centered care plans, communicates effectively with the care team, and ensures comprehensive patient documentation. * Commits to professional development, actively engages in shared governance, and contributes to changes that improve patient care and the practice environment. * Participates in quality improvement efforts, identifies opportunities for improvement, and uses research and evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care and patient satisfaction. Qualifications: * Requires at least one year of nursing experience; BSN preferred. * Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care based on the principles of growth and development, assessing and interpreting patient data to meet age-specific needs. * Establishes and maintains positive relationships with executives, managers, physicians, staff, other departments, and patients/families. * Works effectively in a complex environment, handling multiple priorities and specialized equipment. * Possesses strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. * Demonstrates physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. * Flexible scheduling options are available, including night and weekend shifts with premium pay, requiring at least six months of nursing experience. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: * Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire/ transfer. required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. * Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) * Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) * Act 34 * UPMC approved national certification preferred. * Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
